Rachnadevi, also known as (Ratnadevi or Ratnavati,Sanskrit: रचनादेवी) was a queen of the Gupta Dynasty and the wife of King Shrigupta. It is said that she married him during his career and work. She is the mother of Ghatotkacha and the grandmother of Chandragupta I.[lower-alpha 1]

Life during the Gupta Period[edit]

During the time of legal History, Ratnadevi is depicted as a dancer who was graceful in dancing. Fortunately, She married Shrigupta, the founder of the Gupta Empire. Later, she begot him a son named Ghatotkacha, who was then later the second ruler of the Gupta Empire. Ghatotkacha married a kshatriya princess named Madhumati. She was Queen Rachnadevi's successor. History from the time of Shrigupta tells the marriage of Rachnadevi with him, but as a result, she had a good relationship with Dhruvadevi, wife of Chandragupta II. After the day comes, Madhumati became the second queen of the Gupta Dynasty. There is a queen who is seen on the coin with Chandragupta I, she is named Kumaradevi. She was a mother of Samudragupta, the most popular ruler of the Gupta dynasty. He was married to Dattadevi,in which, the poet, Harisena mentioned her marriage with King Samudragupta.

She opened hospitals and took strict action against murdering, killing,etc. The social life of the Gupta period was running efficiently.
